About me
During my internship at the VQCC as a student of the MSc in Quantum Information Science and Technology, I designed, assembled, and tested a spectrometer to study the background illumination present in the atmosphere that can affect satellite quantum communications. I also carried out my Master’s thesis at the VQCC, where I simulated the achievable secret key rate of a Quantum Key Distribution system using real background count rates measured at the Antonia Ferrín Quantum Optical Ground Station in Vigo. This analysis allowed me to study the impact of realistic background conditions and identify the system conditions and parameters required to achieve a sufficient secret key rate for effective quantum communication.
