Electronics Engineer.
The Vigo Quantum Communication Center (VQCC) at the University of Vigo invites applications for an electronics engineer position. The successful candidate will work in close contact with the five scientific groups at the Centre to develop various digital and analogue electronic solutions for various applications in quantum communication and computation research.
SELECTION CRITERIA
REQUIRED
• A university degree and work experience in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in designing, simulating, and testing both digital and analogue circuits.
• Investigative skills and ability to de-bug and correct electronic circuits.
• Good communication skills, including fluent oral and written English as well as the ability to write clear and concise engineering documentation.
DESIRABLE
• Proficiency in using PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle) and understanding PCB manufacturing processes, including communication with suppliers and cost optimization.
• Skills in designing amplifiers, filters, ADCs/DACs, and other essential analogue components, including high-speed electronics (up to a few GHz).
• Experience with circuit simulation software such as LTspice, PSPICE, or Multisim.
• Expertise in optical communications, detection, emission and modulation electronics.
• Experience with programming microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, PIC) and FPGA development using VHDL/Verilog.

Quantum Optical Computing Lab
Experimental Junior Researcher/Group leader (tenure track) in quantum optics, quantum nanophotonics, quantum communication and quantum computation.
The Vigo Quantum Communication Centre (VQCC) of the University of Vigo, Spain, is opening a position for an experimental Junior Researcher /Group leader (tenure track) in the research fields of quantum optics, quantum nanophotonics, quantum communication and computation.
The recently founded VQCC aims to become a leading research institute in the development of quantum information technologies. It actually consists of four renown group leaders and a team of about 20 young and motivated post-docs and PhD-students. The new position is endowed with a start up money of 1.7 million Euro over five years.

Quantum Optical Computing Lab
PhD and postdoctoral positions in experimental optical quantum computing
The Vigo Quantum Communication Center at the University of Vigo (Spain) invites applications for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in experimental quantum optics. You will work in the new quantum computing lab under the supervision of Professor Alexander Lvovsky (https://quantech.group/). The project is aimed at constructing a quantum optical neural network for combinatorial optimization.
* Selection criteria [for postdocs]:
Essential
- A PhD or equivalent, or be near completion thereof, in physics or a related field.
- A superb past research/publication record
- Demonstrable excellence in free-space experimental optics
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings
- Ability to manage own academic research and associated activities
- Ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation
Desirable
- Expertise in neural networks and machine learning
- Expertise in optical and computational imaging
- Awareness of quantum science and technology
- Expertise in analogue electronics and circuit design.
* Selection criteria [for PhD students]:
Essential
- A BS or MS degree, or be near completion thereof, in physics or a related field
- Excellent academic record
- Good knowledge of optics and quantum mechanics
- Good command of English for written and oral communication
Desirable
- Expertise in neural networks and machine learning
- Publications in peer reviewed scientific periodicals
- Awareness of quantum science and technology
- Expertise in analogue electronics and circuit design.
