Master’s students from MIQST
26-27 visit the VQCC

16/10/2026

On 16 October 2026, the Vigo Quantum Communication Centre (VQCC) welcomed around 20 students enrolled in the 2026–2027 Master’s in Quantum Information Science and Technologies (MQIST).

The MQIST – Master’s Degree in Quantum Information Science and Technologies is an interuniversity programme offered by the universities of Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña and Vigo. It provides specialised postgraduate training in quantum information science and technologies.

The students were welcomed by Margarida Pereira, who gave them a brief introduction to the VQCC, presenting the centre and its research activities in quantum communications.

Following the introduction, the students visited the centre’s laboratories, where researchers introduced them to different areas of quantum technology research.

Daniel López guided them through Quantum Optical Computing Lab,

followed by a visit to Quantum Communication Technology Lab with Davide Rusca.

They then explored the Quantum Hacking & Certification Lab with Mikhail Petrov.

Finally, Lukas Tiefenthaler and Alvaro Magdalena welcomed the students to the Satellite Quantum Hub Lab, where they learned about the centre’s research in satellite-based quantum communications.

The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to discover the VQCC’s research facilities, meet researchers and gain first-hand insight into the theoretical/experimental work and scientific developments driving the field of quantum communications.

The VQCC is delighted to welcome future quantum technology specialists and remains committed to fostering scientific exchange, supporting emerging talent and inspiring the next generation of researchers in this rapidly evolving field.
