VQCC at the Pan-European
Quantum Internet Hackathon 2025.

28/11/2025

The Pan-European Quantum Internet Hackathon, an international event held simultaneously across multiple locations, took place on 28 November as part of the 2025 edition. This year, participants collaborated from five key innovation hubs: Amsterdam (Netherlands), Dresden (Germany), Paris (France), Poznań (Poland), and Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

The hackathon challenged teams to address a series of technical tasks using advanced quantum computing techniques. Participants worked on developing next-generation quantum network applications by simulating quantum communication and information protocols and embedding these simulations into realistic application scenarios. The goal: to push the boundaries of what future quantum networks could make possible.

Among the attendees were Vaisakh Mannalath, Ana Blázquez, and Alessandro Marcomini from the Vigo Quantum Communication Center (VQCC), who joined the Santiago de Compostela node and contributed to the collaborative effort.

By bringing together researchers, students, and industry innovators across Europe, the event reinforces the continent’s commitment to building a future quantum internet, an ultra-secure, high-performance communication infrastructure. Organizers emphasize that the multi-site, interconnected format reflects the very nature of quantum networking itself: distributed, collaborative, and without borders.
