The VQCC at
the SpainQCI Day.
The SpainQCI Day brought together leading experts from science, industry, and public institutions at Torre Emperador in Madrid to explore the national ecosystem for quantum communications. Organized by EuroQCI Spain, the event highlighted Spain’s growing leadership in the field and its commitment to developing secure quantum networks and advancing technological sovereignty.
Representatives from prominent organizations including ICFO, Telefónica, Indra, and CSIC, shared the latest advances in research, industrial applications, and collaborative opportunities within the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) initiative.
A key highlight of the day was the presentation of the Vigo Quantum Communication Center (VQCC) by Prof. Marcos Curty, a leading researcher in quantum cryptography. The VQCC aims to serve as a national hub for innovation and development in quantum communications, strengthening Spain’s role within the EuroQCI framework.
The event served as a platform for public-private dialogue, showcasing Spain’s proactive efforts to build a secure, resilient, and future-ready quantum infrastructure. As Europe moves toward the deployment of a continental quantum communication network, Spain positions itself as a key contributor in shaping the quantum future.
