Boris Korzh
visits the VQCC.

30/04/2025

From April 30 until May 2, 2025, Boris Korzh, a world expert in photon detectors and their applications in quantum communication and space science, visited the VQCC for scientific collaborations in the field of quantum communication. During his visit, Boris gave a talk entitled “High-speed SNSPDs for clock-rate scaling in quantum networks”.

After studying at Imperial College London and earning a doctorate from the University of Geneva in 2016, Boris Korzh joined NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, where he worked on the development of single-photon detectors based on superconducting nanowire technology, achieving world records for several key performance metrics. He has been appointed Assistant Professor as of September 1, 2024, in the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Geneva. There, he continues his work on single-photon detectors and cameras based on this technology. He is also developing applications of these detectors for quantum communication, the biomedical field, high-energy physics, and astronomy.
