Sergio Juárez
visits the VQCC.
Sergio Juárez, Doctoral Candidate of the MSCA project “Quantum-safe Internet” at Toshiba’s Cambridge Research Laboratory, spent the month of April visiting the VQCC. During his stay, he collaborated with various team members in a research project related to quantum communication, and gave a seminar about his latest findings at Toshiba.
Sergio Juárez earned his BSc in Physics (2020) and MSc in Quantum Information Geometry (2022) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He then worked as a research assistant at UNAM’s Institute of Nuclear Sciences, where, under the supervision of D. Vergara, he studied the quantum geometric tensor and extended it to include entanglement measures. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Vigo within the QSI project in collaboration with the Cambridge Research Laboratory of Toshiba, where he is based for most of his experimental work. His research focuses on the development of practical Quantum Key Distribution protocols, particularly Twin Field QKD, under the supervision of R. Woodward, M. Curty, and M. Stevenson.
His presence was enriching for the team, fostering academic exchange and strengthening international collaboration. Overall, his visit was productive and positively received by all members of the center.
