The VQCC welcomes
master’s students from MIQST.
On 10 October 2025, the Vigo Quantum Communication Centre (VQCC) welcomed the students on the 2025–2026 Master’s in Quantum Information Science and Technologies (MQIST) programme.
MQIST – Máster Universitario en Ciencia y Tecnologías de la Información Cuántica
The MQIST programme is an interuniversity master’s programme offered by the universities of Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña and Vigo. It is a specialised postgraduate programme focusing on information processing through quantum technologies.
The visit began with an introductory talk by Prof. Marcos Curty, the VQCC’s Scientific Director. The students then toured the VQCC’s three main laboratories. First, they explored the Quantum Hacking & Certification Lab with Dr Makarov, gaining insights into security testing in quantum systems. Next, they visited the Quantum Communication Technology Lab with Dr. Davide Rusca, learning about cutting-edge experimental setups. Finally, they visited the Satellite Quantum Hub Lab with Dr Lukas Tiefenthaler, who shared his expertise and discussed his ongoing research projects.
The visit gave students a unique opportunity to interact with leading researchers and experience cutting-edge quantum communication research first-hand.
The VQCC is delighted to connect with the next generation of professionals entering the field of quantum technologies. The centre is committed to supporting young talent and will be watching closely to see what contributions these future experts will make to the discipline.
