Jerome Wiesemann
visits the VQCC
From June 4th to June 25th, Jerome Wiesemann, a graduate student from the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut in Berlin, conducted a research stay at the VQCC. This visit was part of the European Nostradamus project, which focuses on the certification of quantum key distribution (QKD) against side-channel attacks.
During this stay, J. Wiesemann collaborated with D. Rusca’s team on investigating injection locking, an attack in which an eavesdropper can manipulate the phase of a laser by injecting light into it. This manipulation challenges a core assumption of security proofs for QKD systems. The team aimed to develop novel methods to characterize and quantify the degree of injection locking for the evaluations of the security of QKD systems against this type of attack.
