Dr. Anastasiya Ponosova and PhD
student Ekaterina Borisova visit VQCC.
From early November to mid-December 2025, the Vigo Quantum Communication Center (VQCC) at the University of Vigo hosted Dr. Anastasiya Ponosova and PhD student Ekaterina Borisova from the Russian Quantum Center. During their short-term research stay, the visiting scientists collaborated on cutting-edge experiments in quantum hacking, under the supervision of Dr. Vadim Makarov.
The international team successfully established two advanced testbenches dedicated to high-power laser damage testing. These testbenches enabled in-depth analysis of the resilience of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems against light-injection attacks. Specifically, the experiments focused on assessing the impact of both high-power pulsed and continuous-wave (cw) lasers on fiber-optic components and devices.

Several preliminary experiments were conducted using fiber-optic components from commercial QKD systems, yielding promising results. The VQCC looks forward to the publication of scientific papers and reports detailing these findings.
