The VQCC participates in the meeting:
“Construyendo ecosistemas de impacto en cuántica”.
Galicia brings together the quantum ecosystem in a key event with participation from the VQCC.
Prof. Marcos Curty from the Vigo Quantum Communication Center (VQCC) took part in the event organized by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) on September 30th, 2025, aimed at strengthening Galicia’s position as a strategic hub for quantum technologies at both national and European levels. Held in Santiago de Compostela under the title “Galicia and the Quantum Revolution: A Strategic Opportunity”, the event brought together public institutions, universities, technology companies, research centers and European representatives. It was officially opened by Román Rodríguez, Galicia’s Regional Minister for Education, Science, Vocational Training and Universities, who highlighted the disruptive potential of quantum technologies across key economic sectors in the region.
VQCC’s Marcos Curty joins the collaboration roundtable
The event included a panel discussion about “Strengthening Collaborations”, with participation of Marta Estarellas (CEO of Qilimanjaro), Andrés Gómez (Applications & Projects Dept. Manager at CESGA), Jorge Parra (Director of ITECAM) and Marcos Curty (Scientific Director of the VQCC and Professor at the University of Vigo). During his intervention, Curty presented the center’s vision for applied research and public-private collaboration, emphasizing Galicia’s key role in several European and national initiatives.
“The VQCC was born with an open, collaborative and results-oriented mindset. The only way to lead this technological revolution is through integrated efforts that bring together academia, industry and technological centers” Curty stated.
A comprehensive program to address the quantum present and future
The event’s agenda covered several strategic areas, including “Talent development and training”, featuring renowned speakers such as Javier Mas (USC), Araceli Venegas (QURECA), and Francisco Benítez (FIDESOL); “Business opportunities in quantum”, with a roundtable moderated by Fujitsu and contributions from companies such as QCentroid, QUBIZ.team, and Qside; “Institutional and EU-level perspectives”, with a keynote by Óscar Díez (Head of Quantum Computing Sector at the European Commission); and networking sessions throughout the day allowed for productive exchanges between academic institutions and industry.
Galicia bets on quantum innovation
The event reaffirmed the commitment of the Galician Government to build a robust regional quantum ecosystem that leverages local scientific capacity, enterprises and technological centers. The VQCC is well aligned with this collective goal.
