The VQCC visits
The University of Padua
From October 1st to December 31st, 2025, Álvaro Magdalena, a predoctoral researcher at VQCC, visited the University of Padua to work under the supervision of Professor Francesco Vedovato and postdoctoral researcher Edoardo Rossi. The University of Padua is a highly renowned institution, particularly well known for its work in experimental free-space QKD.
During his stay, Álvaro learned about the operation and use of an Optical Ground Station (OGS), adaptive optics techniques, and the study of atmospheric turbulence and its effects on optical links. The knowledge and practical skills acquired during this period are expected to be highly beneficial for his PhD work and for his future research activities at the VQCC.
Additionally, Álvaro had the opportunity to give a one-hour talk presenting his work at the VQCC, which allowed him to receive valuable feedback and engage in scientific discussions with the group. He also attended several seminars given by different group members, covering the latest developments in the field.
