VQCC at the QSNP Workshop on
Advancing QKD from Theory to Technology.
The QSNP workshop on “Advancing QKD from Theory to Technology” took place at the University of Padua on February 6-7, 2024, and was organised by the European Quantum Flagship project QSNP.
This project is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of quantum cryptography for securing internet-based information transmission. With the overarching goal of advancing European capabilities in quantum technology for cybersecurity, QSNP aims to enhance the protection of the privacy and sensitive data of European citizens transmitted online.
The workshop intends to foster progress towards developing security proofs for a comprehensive cryptographic protocol, integrating authentication, QKD, and secure message exchanges across a wide spectrum of applications. The postdoctoral researcher Margarida Pereira from the VQCC delivered a contributed talk about her recent findings on the security of practical QKD with unbounded pulse correlations. This phenomenon, purely classical in nature, typically arises from memory effects in the modulation devices, particularly in those QKD setups operated at high repetition rates.
