The VQCC at the 1st
Iberian Quantum Communication Workshop.

Prof. Marcos Curty from the VQCC participated in the 1st Iberian Quantum Communication Workshop celebrated in Aveiro (Portugal) on October 4, 2024. This workshop, organized by the University of Aveiro, was part of the activities of the Aveiro Tech Week 2024. 

Quantum computing has put at risk the way cryptographic keys are currently distributed. To respond to this problem, the European Union created the EuroQCI program, to coordinate the implementation of quantum networks for the secure distribution of cryptographic keys in different European countries.

In this first Iberian meeting, academics, companies and public entities from both countries discussed the implementation of quantum networks for the secure distribution of cryptographic keys in Portugal and Spain, as well as their future interconnection.
