Sören Wengerowsky
visits the VQCC.
On January 17, 2025, the VQCC received the visit of Dr. Sören Wengerowsky, a post-doctoral researcher from the group of Prof. Hugues de Riedmatten at the Institute of Photonics Sciences (ICFO) in Barcelona. During his visit, Sören gave a talk entitled “Towards an Entanglement-Based Quantum Computing Network”.
Sören completed his MSc in plasma physics, simulating the propagation of microwaves in a turbulent plasma, and then changed to experimental physics for his PhD. He received his PhD from University of Vienna, working on quantum communication networks and polarization-entangled photon pair-sources in the group of Prof. Rupert Ursin. Since 2020 he is working as post-doctoral researcher at ICFO on solid-state quantum memories and quantum frequency conversion.
