Ekaterina Borisova
visits the VQCC.
In July 2025, Ekaterina Borisova, a Junior Research Associate at the Quantum Hacking Lab of the Russian Quantum Center, carried out a research stay at the Quantum Hacking & Certification Lab at VQCC.
During this period, Ekaterina contributed to an experimental project focused on developing protective measures for quantum key distribution (QKD) systems against high-power laser attacks. Specifically, she investigated the use of optical components that act as fuses, disconnecting the system when subjected to intense laser radiation typically used by an adversary (Eve) in quantum hacking attempts. These optical limiters play a crucial role in safeguarding QKD setups by preventing permanent damage to sensitive equipment. In addition, preliminary work was conducted for further experiments aimed at evaluating the resilience of passive QKD components under similar attack conditions.
