Xoel Sixto visited
the University of Padua.

Between March 20th and May 9th 2025, Xoel Sixto, a predoctoral researcher at VQCC, visited the University of Padua to work under the supervision of Professors Giuseppe Vallone and Paolo Villoresi. The University of Padova hosts one of the world’s leading research groups in satellite quantum key distribution (QKD), particularly known for their pioneering contributions to experimental free-space QKD.

Throughout his stay, Xoel engaged closely with the Padova team, exchanging ideas and gaining insights into the latest experimental advances in satellite QKD. As part of the visit, he delivered a one-hour presentation to all group members, where he discussed recent theoretical developments achieved at VQCC, which lead to an exchange of perspectives between theory and experiment. Furthermore, the visit also helped to establish the first steps towards future collaborations in quantum communications between the VQCC and the University of Padova.

In addition to his activities with the Padova group, Xoel also participated in the QSNP conference, where he got the chance to present a recent security proof to deal with information leakage in decoy-state QKD. He also attended multiple seminars on the latest developments in quantum communications  given by different group members.
